The
HypnoBirthing Programme was developed in the United States in
1989 by Marie F. Mongan, M. Ed., M.Hy. and is based on the work
of English obstetrician, Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, the father of
Natural Childbirth
HypnoBirthing proponents subscribe
to the belief that when a woman is given the proper preparation
for childbirth she usually can experience a safe and satisfying
birthing, free of the fear that causes tension and pain
Marie's
book 'HypnoBirthing - a Celebration of Life was first published
in 1989
HypnoBirthing methods are now being taught in
the UK and I am one of a small number of therapists in the UK
currently qualified to teach HypnoBirthing techniques
HypnoBirthing
is a rewarding, relaxing stress-free method of birthing that
is based on the belief that all babies should come into the
world in an atmosphere of gentility, calm and joy. It focuses
on the techniques for eliminating the fear-tension-pain
syndrome during labour, replacing it with confidence, calm and
comfort. Unwarranted fear creates the fear-tension-pain syndrome,
and the more relaxed the mother is the easier everything becomes
It is a Course of four to five, two-and-a-half hour sessions
